Get The Party Started with Shutterfly– Perfectly Personal™ Holiday Card Collection

Are you thinking yet about the December holidays and sitting on the fence whether to entertain and host a fun party?  With the temps in the high 80’s here in Southern California it doesn’t exactly feel like the holiday party planning season is here but it is!  Thanks to Shutterfly, I was able to find my holiday spirit while working on a project for them.

I’m very pleased to feature a party invitation that I chose, and I think you’ll love it too because it has happiness written all over it!  It’s the Jingle Jingle Mingle Holiday Invitation from the Perfectly Personal™ line of invitations from the Holiday Cards Collection.  Every holiday season, I decorate my red front doors with silver sleigh bells so this caught my eye immediately.

Shutterfly Holiday Collection 2014F-1

Did you know invitations from Shutterfly are two-sided?  I was able to add more special touches on the back.  Of the many backgrounds to choose from, I felt red bokeh lights nicely complimented the red graphics on the front of the invitation.

I also downloaded a photo of my of mini snowflake cookies and added a message for my guests to “bring a plate of cookies and their singing voices.”  It’s a holiday party after all!  It’s perfectly acceptable to get your fa-la-la-la-la on.

Shutterfly Holiday Collection Party Invitations

Do you give your guests a little something extra to remember the party by?  I do.  A little bag of mini snowflake cookies like the ones seen on back of the invitation will be a perfect party favor!  I ordered a set of stickers to make gifts tags to tie onto bags of decorated cookies.  I chose the Holiday Cheer Pattern Stickers and added the text line – “Have a sweet holiday”.

Making these gift tags using the stickers couldn’t be easier – Place the stickers on card stock, cut around the sticker with a decorative edged scissors, punch a hole for baker’s twine, loop the twine through and that’s it!  So cute, easy and fast to make!  These will be finished long before the time it takes Clarence to get his wings or Rick to take out the majority of the zombie population in the greater Atlanta area.  🙂

To complete the theme of snowflakes and candy canes, I ordered custom postage stamps from Shutterfly and chose a candy cane striped border to frame the same  photos of my cookies that I had used on the back of the invitation.  Now the envelope will be a sneak peek to the call of festivities that await inside!

I hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day.  I did!  Just a quick check-in today as I’m styling and shooting for a project for Shutterfly that will post on Friday. I’ve had a bit of an injury to my right hand which I believe has been from swiping constantly “to the left, to the left” on my iPad and phone and swirling all around on my track pad on my laptop which I use for everything, even photo editing and… [Read More]

How To Host a Shabu-Shabu Party – An Interactive Dining Experience for a Group: Part 1

Looking for something different to serve for a dinner party that will both nurture your body and soul?  That would be Shabu-Shabu!  I’m going to show you how to host your own Shabu-Shabu party!  It’s so much fun! I was first introduced to Shabu-Shabu when I asked a neighbor if she had any ideas of what I could serve for a high school marching band saxophone section party at my house.  “Shabu-Shabu!”, she said.  I said, “Whaaaat?”  Thus began my… [Read More]

The Jeanapalooza Birthday Extravaganza Recap– A Pink and Orange Party

If you’ve been following the progression of birthday planning posts I’ve written, you’d know this past weekend was the big “Jeanapalooza Birthday Extravaganza” for my mother-in-law’s ninetieth birthday hosted at our home. Balloons and birthday pennants greeted the birthday girl and forty-three guests as they walked through the front door. The buffet held the birthday cake and party favors of custom m&m’s, foil wrapped peppermint patties and cookies. There is a cake store that only makes Bundt cakes, if you… [Read More]

Mini Boston Cream Valentine’s Day Cupcakes!

mini boston cupcakes

Three words… Begin with the cutest mini cupcakes wrappers ever by Meri Meri. They are part of the give-away I’m hosting that ends on Friday. Fill them with your favorite vanilla cupcake batter.  My recipe is at the end of this post, hot stuff. While the cupcakes baked I made Julia Child’s recipe for pastry cream.  And just like Julia, I made it thicker and added a little cream after it completely cooled to thin it out.  As Julia said,… [Read More]

Festive Holiday Cocktails

Entertaining for the holidays is a perfect time for signature cocktails. Here are a couple of recipes for variations on pomegranate martinis that are red in color. Red, being the key to complement a special decorative rim of flaked coconut that gives the cocktail glass the look of Santa’s hat or a snowy touch. It’s a festive look to serve up some holiday spirit with your … spirits. Things needed to make the decorative snowy coconut rim: 3 Tablespoons powdered… [Read More]

Mini Cupcake Spiral Tower (Autumn, Fall)

Mini chocolate cupcakes decorated with over-sized dragees and fall themed fondant cut-outs literally reached new heights in my kitchen for a fall open house party this past weekend. We’ll get ‘up close and personal’ so I can show how you how I made this. It’s not as complicated as it looks. Trust me. They’re just a bunch of little ol’ chocolate cupcakes dressed up all fancy like. The number of cupcakes needed depends on the size styrofoam cone that is… [Read More]

Halloween Cocktail Time!

Question: “What do black Cosmo martinis garnished with sparkly disco dust and a beating heart on a wooden stake have in common”? Answer: “It’s what for dinner come Halloween for me and my ghoul friends”. This year I’m going ghoulie glam with a sparkling rim made with thinned candy coating or white chocolate tinted with icing colors and sprinkled with disco dust. “Ghoulie Pink Sparkle Rim” “Twilight Red Sparkle Rim” I wrote a post on the particulars and challenges of… [Read More]
