Gift and Wrapping Ideas For A Baking Bridal Shower

Wow! This spring has taken off with bridal showers and the weddings to follow!

Thought I’d share a gift idea and presentation I came up for a bride who will be learning how to bake. I hope she’ll love baking as much as I do! If anything, it will give her a good start complete with a couple of recipes and my cell number should she have any questions.

Here’s the complete presentation and then below, I’ll break it down for you and resource the items:

bridal shower gift basket

See that big poofy tulle confectionery bow? Under it is 2 – 8″ cake pans stacked on top of each other. Much prettier than two aluminum grey pans, don’t you think? Tape the pans together so they don’t slide off each other.

I had this lovely pink paper with sequins from Paper Source.  Instant sequin sprinkles!

I cut a doily from a lace patterned paper I had in my collection, also from Paper Source.

The pedestal cake stand I found at Sur la Table.  I think it’s the perfect height to make any dessert feel special. 🙂

I have to show this photo again to refer to for resources because it’s the only one I took as I was running out the door to the shower!  By the way, the aunt of the groom hosted a lovely day at the Wilshire Country Club in LA where the weather was made to order.  Right on the border of Hancock Park with Larchmont Village close by. So worth the Hollywoodland traffic, narrow streets, no left-hand turn lanes or left-turn green arrows…! You can tell I don’t get up to LA very often but when I do I always go for a joy ride to look at the old established neighborhoods from the 20’s and the stately homes. LA. Who knew! Very Norma Desmond. 🙂

Backyard Movie Night With Party Crashers Cary and Grace

This past weekend we held our annual backyard movie night.  Our Southern Californian summer temperatures have been unexpectedly autumnal for our guests to comfortably sit outside into the night for a few hours so when a warming trend began we jumped upon the opportunity. Our backyard movie night was also brought to you by our sponsor – Chinet!  When Chinet contacted me and asked if I would be interested in participating in their summer campaign of The Lost Art Challenge… [Read More]

Baby Blue and White Balloon Cookies with a Washi Tape DIY –Part Deux

white balloon baby birthday cookies-169

If you read my previous post about the white balloon cookies, you saw simple and elegant white balloons where the lollipop sticks were wrapped in washi tape and tied with kitchen twine around the neck of the balloon cookie. Since I had extra dough, I decided to decorate a few more cookies for fun.  This little cutie pie on the invitation is my great-nephew, Daniel. Pearlized baby blue dragees made their appearance onto the cookie.  Such a sweet look.  I… [Read More]

Bridal Shower Gifts and Wrapping Ideas

I love to wrap gifts.  I always have.  Part of the fun for me is finding inspiration in the gift choice, the colors, paper and in ribbon.  Having an excuse to shop for paper and ribbon is like buying a new pair of party shoes.  I get giddy!     The inspiration for this “wedding cake wrap”, as my friend called it, since she thought it looked like a tiered wedding cake, began with the bride’s registry.  I noticed… [Read More]

Decorated Easter and Springtime Cookies and Treat Links

Big Bunny Decorated Cookie

I’m hopping back into my springtime cookie archives while I enjoy some spring break time with my boys over the next couple of weeks.  Of course, they couldn’t be on break the same weeks could they, but at some point we hope to spend at least a few days all together.  When I return I’ll have a special Vera Bradley give-away for followers that I think you’ll really like. In the mean time, if you’re thinking about Easter and springtime… [Read More]
