Marshmallow Bunny Pops Tutorial

If you read my Facebook page you’d know I’ve had 2 days notice that my boys were coming home for their spring breaks!  Joy and panic!  With no time for a new post with photos, etc., I’m re-posting these cute bunny marshmallow pops from 2011 for one big, wonderful reason – I found all the marshmallows this week at my local chain grocery stores!!  The jumbo marshmallows are in Safeway and the curly marshmallows are at Ralphs so now all… [Read More]

Meringue Cookie Heart Pops

meringue Valentine heart cookie pops West Elm valentine cookie decorating workshop

While I was making Meringue Heart Cookies for a recent post, I thought how cute they would be sandwiched with white chocolate ganache or white candy coating, dipped in colorful sprinkles and placed on a red and white striped straw, so I gave it a try. Won’t they be fun to attach to Valentines? If you’ve made the meringue hearts you only need a few more things to transform them into pops. If you’re using *white chocolate ganache:  1.  Heavy… [Read More]

“Be Still My (Meringue) Heart” Cookies

Chocolate might reign supreme as the sweet choice for Valentine’s Day but if something lighter tickles your fancy, meringue heart cookies just might make your heart go all aflutter. Made with ingredients most of us already have on hand in our kitchens, the ingredients are simple: egg whites, cream of tartar, granulated sugar (either ‘super fine’ or regular), and vanilla.  The pink food coloring for tinting the meringue is optional but soft pink hearts are the language of love on… [Read More]

Pink and Orange Foil Wrapped Peppermint Patties

What is a party without mints?   I believe my emotional need for colorful party mints goes back to my days in Job’s Daughters.  There was not one reception or installation that did not have a plate of swirled  fondant mints and every reception and installation had its own unique color scheme, usually two colors.  When I was installed as Honored Queen, my colors were grass green and buttercup yellow.  I kept one color of each mint for years as… [Read More]

Theta Chi Fraternity Decorated Cookies

Last weekend, we, along with other Theta Chi parents, had the pleasure of spending a special parents’ weekend with our sons.  I made a few batches of chocolate chip cookies and Theta Chi cookies with Greek letters and the fraternity flower – the red  carnation. The Greek letters are made from thinned royal icing that has been allowed to dry and harden.  They peel off the waxed paper. I then placed them on top of the white wet royal icing…. [Read More]

Baby Shower Mini Cupcakes

In my previous post, I showed you how I was inspired to make decorated baby elephant cookie favors using a graphic of a baby elephant in a baby shower invitation I received.  I just fell in love with that little blue guy so I thought I’d go one delicious step further – I baked some mini cupcakes just for fun and used the same graphic. I have a Canon printer solely designated for edible images that is filled with edible… [Read More]

You are cordially invited… …to take a peek inside… … party preparations with pachyderms. The inspiration. Creating a cookie pattern. A few precious baby pachyderms. An entire herd of sweetness. Getting dressed for the party. Ready for the party. The packed baby pachyderms… [Read More]

“Happy as a Clam” Decorated Cookies!

Decorated Clam Cookies

I’m always thinking one season ahead.  Decorated Clam Cookies This past Sunday we took a leisurely drive up Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Laguna up to Newport Beach.  For fun we even took the ferry (a few minutes float) from Balboa Island over to the peninsula and drove over to the wedge.   Even though I’m a west coast- SoCal gal, born and raised, when I think summer and the beach my heart hops a plane and heads straight to Cape… [Read More]

Decorated Easter and Springtime Cookies and Treat Links

Big Bunny Decorated Cookie

I’m hopping back into my springtime cookie archives while I enjoy some spring break time with my boys over the next couple of weeks.  Of course, they couldn’t be on break the same weeks could they, but at some point we hope to spend at least a few days all together.  When I return I’ll have a special Vera Bradley give-away for followers that I think you’ll really like. In the mean time, if you’re thinking about Easter and springtime… [Read More]

St. Patrick’s Day Cupcakes with Bailey’s Irish Cream, Frangelico and Crème de Cacao Buttercream Icing

St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes

As if my favorite espresso martinis weren’t decadent enough I made espresso martini cupcakes for St. Patrick’s Day with buttercream icing made with Bailey’s Irish Cream and a few of its flavorful, sweet, high octane friends. These friends play together beautifully and are three of the five ingredients in the espresso martinis that I love. Bailey’s is creamy goodness.  Frangelico is hazelnut-flavored liqueur and Crème de Cacao has a light chocolate flavor. For the cupcakes, I substituted the liquid ingredients… [Read More]
