Decorated Margarita Cookies!

decorated margarita cookies

They’re not just for Cinco de Mayo anymore. Do you like traditional margaritas or strawberry?Let’s start with the cookie garnishes for margaritas. I wanted to have a little sparkle. What better place than on the garnish?Strawberries! I used a small strawberry cutter then iced the cookies in red. While the icing was still wet I covered them with Dicso Dust in Strawberry. You must cover them completely to get this effect. The random sprinkle will look like a random sprinkle. No… [Read More]

My Royal Wedding Souvenir

Last week I ventured into the Tod’s store to look at a bag I saw Kate Middleton pictured with. What was particularly interesting about it was that it’s called the D-style bag named after Diana but the updated version. Here’s a quick article on the connection of both bags. I particularly liked the soft grey and the leather was like buttah but at $1665, uh, I rather have a new camera. Then, who was seen, but the latest Middleton sibling… [Read More]

Cookie Calendar

Today begins my cookie countdown for my niece’s wedding. For the next few days I’ll be baking 140 wedding cake cookies and then change it up by baking a couple hundred flower cookies on sticks for a landscape trade show but I’m determined to make decorated margarita cookies tomorrow because of 2 great colors of disco dust I found this weekend. Think traditional margarita and strawberry. These sparkly colors, along with pearl sugar I ordered last week, are inspiring me… [Read More]

Sunday

It’s such a beautiful morning here it’s almost possible to put aside the images of what I’ve seen in the news this week from the south and mid-west. But I can’t. I think of the thousands of people personally affected that are literally without a roof over their heads. I can’t imagine the terror they felt in prayer asking for protection for themselves and for those they loved to emerge just minutes later, elated with their lives, followed by instant… [Read More]

Derby Day Bracelets

I do love a reason to acquire a new bracelet. My credit card is running for the roses this week! I recently brought Janna Conner up to post position. Here’s another winner to cross the finish line. Lauren G. Adams is once again on the inside track with her enamel and stirrup charm bangle. Odds on favorite is always Ralph Lauren with something classic yet edgy. Giddy Up! SHARE THIS POST:

Espresso Martinis, Nachos and Tiaras!

Besides being a great potential blog name these goodies will be on the menu tonight as I venture over to a royal wedding party with the girls at 1 AM! Coverage begins just after midnight Pacific time and we’re donning tiaras while pulling an all-nighter. The best in-house party favor is bringing out the collection of tiaras. Yes, tiaras! Even a replica of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation crown will be there which is a family heirloom of my friend’s mother. Isn’t… [Read More]

Refrigerator Envy Ina Garten Style

Last fall I was seduced by Ina Garten’s refrigerator. It had been coming on for a long time. Everytime she opened the door of her side-by-side it was a tease. After midnight one autumnal night leading up to Thanksgiving I weakened and succumbed to what I had been envying for so long … organizational nirvana . There they were – statuesque opaque quart sized containers, all matching, lids locked in place, stackable, reusable. It doesn’t get much better than this,… [Read More]

‘Smile’ For Camera Cookies!

camera cookies

Food photography has become a big component of blogging where recipes and techniques are shared and since I’m taking so many pictures to document my cookie making and decorating I’ve needed to find resources to help me improve.I’ve been very fortunate to find two exceptionally talented women in this field. The first is Amanda Padgett who runs Everyday Elements. She’s incredibly savvy at photography and Photo Shop Elements (PSE) and offers online workshops, tutorial videos and so much more…. [Read More]
