Everything’s Coming Up Flower Cookie Pops

When I was asked to make cookies for an exhibitor at a landscape trade show I immediately thought flowers would be a natural tie in. The “Vegas” theme of the show would play a part too. I thought cookies would be a unique and fun give-away gift and I could also utilize them in containers for the table decoration. I learned that at a trade show such as this the objective is to get people to visit your booth… [Read More]

Jennifer’s Wedding

wedding cookies favors bridal shower cookies

It was a lovely day.The day before I had finished making 140 wedding cookies for my niece, but you might have already known that. On Saturday, as we were leaving for the ceremony, I received a call from the father of the bride. “Where are you?” Three little words at the beginning of a conversation that always makes your heart beat faster.Seems the florist came and left before the bakery dropped off the cake so there was no one to… [Read More]

Molded Sugar Roses and Leaves

I’m reposting this how-to from last May since a lot of people seem to be searching for it and it’s not coming up in my search window. I hope this makes it more accessible. Molded sugar makes for a very pretty presentation at tea time and they’re very easy and quick to make. This project took me less than 20 minutes from start to finish. Things you will need: Superfine or regular Sugar Food Coloring Water Plastic Candy Mold Cardboard… [Read More]

Staircase Decorations – Two Holidays In One

stair bannister decorated for thanksgiving and christmas

I love my winding staircase and I particularly love it all lit up and decorated for the holidays but it always seems to be a scramble to get it up right after Thanksgiving so we have more time to enjoy it. With both boys making a limited appearance for T-day before they return to school, I rather be enjoying our time together instead of fussing with decorations especially in the other room. Thanks to a friend I saw at the high… [Read More]

Lit Mercury Glass Globes

I’m waiting for these. Lit Mercury Glass Globes ~ According to the PB sales associates at my local store they weren’t even aware these gorgeous globes were being offered this season until I happily educated them. What a pity since I took this to mean they probably won’t be displayed as part of the season’s change out. Curious, I returned last week knowing the display elves had completed their holiday magic and they were no where to be found. The… [Read More]

Scaredy Cat Napkin Holder/Place Card

As a continuation of my Halloween decorations, making the napkin holder/place card is so easy. Take an extra cat cut-out from the ideas on the “Hissy Fit Halloween Garland Post” and use the punched out holes on the cat’s back to thread 6mm ribbon through. In the ribbon loop on the back of the cat place the napkin. Pull the ribbon taut and tie in a bow. You can write the name of your guest on the cat with a… [Read More]

“Hissy Fit” Halloween Garland!

halloween cat garland with pom poms

I love Halloween decorations whether I’m hosting a big monster mash bash or a small intimate dinner party which I’ll be doing this year. When I was at Paper Source I saw these cute scaredy cat cut-outs. It’s actually a kit of 8 cut-outs and some silver cording but it would be very to easy to make your own. If I wasn’t pressed for time with my NYC trip coming up next week, I would use my large cat cookie cutter… [Read More]

Nautical Wedding Part II

Another decorative task I was thrilled to be asked to be involved with was to bring in the nautical theme to the cake table. My niece being the resourceful person she is ordered cupcakes from Costco and to be very honest (and my niece knows this so no big revelation after the fact) the thought of cupcakes from Costco for her wedding didn’t exactly float my boat since I am a baking snob but I do own up to it…. [Read More]

Summer Party Invitations

DIY summer party invitations

As you know, I love to plan parties and I’m on to the next one! I made these invitations this weekend and I’m debating between an anchor motif or the darling crabs. For the anchor invitation, I used the anchor die cut punch from the ‘Martha’ collection along with some rubber stamps. I wish I could say these were my own ideas but I learned how to make them at the Paper Source store. (A link to their workshops is… [Read More]
