A College Graduation, Father’s Day and My Birthday

Off to celebrate all three this weekend! Back next week after coming down from cloud 9 to show you how to make these milkshake decorated cookies/party favors/place setting name “cards” I designed and made specially for Tiny Prints using their party invitation, Stately Straws, for inspiration.   Have a sweet and fun weekend!

Happy April

I hope everyone had a nice Easter and Passover and break from academic endeavors.  We had a lovely visit with the collegiate spring breakers.  Son2 and his dad, planted the garden for us and added drip irrigation.  Son1 worked on his presentation for a meeting this week on the east coast.  I cooked and went to the store – a lot.  The boys also were able to individually take their grandma out to lunch which I know they all enjoyed…. [Read More]

Berkeley. San Francisco. Good Eats.

We had a lovely get-away in Berkeley and San Francisco this past weekend to visit son1.  Although it was a short trip we packed a lot of activity in – 3 delicious breakfasts, a memorable Italian dinner on College, shopping for an upcoming Tahoe trip, a drive up the coast to Pt. Reyes with beautiful blue sky weather and an extraordinary dinner in the Richmond district in the city later that evening.  At the little French bistro, Chapeau!, upon arrival,… [Read More]

Are You A Betty or Veronica?

Saw this article in my favorite news source, the British Daily Mail – Femail Section.  Such a guilty pleasure of mine and so meaty, as they say, with absolutely nothing pertinent to add to one’s life.  That’s why I must visit multiple times a day.  Read it before going to bed to get the next day’s fresh gossip.  Just look at those Affleck kids growing up before our eyes amid trips to Starbucks.  They are so adorable! Anyway, February 7… [Read More]

The Best Laid Plans of Meringue

Thursday was going to be my meringue hearts day. I woke up early, got my coffee going and headed into the pantry for supplies.  Out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement of black.  Ants!   And lots of them – every shelf, up and down across the floor into the kitchen and up again to a high stool reserved for my kitty who receives her morning treats while the coffee brews.  This morning, the ants were waiting… [Read More]

My Weekend With The White On Rice Couple

Hello!  January is not my favorite month.  Is it anyone’s?  With my boys back at school after the holidays and the house undecorated and uncolorful, my mojo was taken out with the dried up Christmas tree sitting curbside.  I’ve always liked the saying, “if what you’re doing isn’t working, change what you’re doing”.  As much as I like this saying, I usually forget about it when I can’t muster the motivation for the change.  But this year, my desire for… [Read More]

Archiving, Organizing, Planning, Dreaming and Setting Goals

See you next week when the boys are back at school, a birthday is celebrated and my house has been restored to pre-holiday status, or at least I’m hoping it is.  Have a wonderful weekend!  What are some of your goals this year?  I’d love to hear them.

The Start of Something Wonderful

A Colorful Party Prep Weekend and A Great Kitchen Tip

Party prep continues this weekend for my Mother-in laws big pink and orange birthday bash one week from today.   I ordered custom cocktails napkins online from Paper-Source.  When I saw the paper lantern design I couldn’t resist. Taking it outside… I love having fragrant flowers where people gather.  We planted stock with chine blue pansies in areas where guests will linger in the backyard.  I opened the door to the yard last night around midnight and the fragrance was… [Read More]

My Ghost On The Capitol Steps Photo

While my family and I were visiting DC one summer, I asked someone to take our photo on the Capitol steps.  A couple years earlier I had captured a ghost of a man with a goatee in one of our pics while visiting Bodie, an old mining town.  Thinking I would have the same luck if I asked a dearly departed to be in our Capitol photo and knowing there are lost of ghosts and energy in D.C. that would… [Read More]
