Are You A Betty or Veronica?

Saw this article in my favorite news source, the British Daily Mail – Femail Section.  Such a guilty pleasure of mine and so meaty, as they say, with absolutely nothing pertinent to add to one’s life.  That’s why I must visit multiple times a day.  Read it before going to bed to get the next day’s fresh gossip.  Just look at those Affleck kids growing up before our eyes amid trips to Starbucks.  They are so adorable!

Anyway, February 7 launches Mac’s line of Betty and Veronica colors of nail polish (shown below), lipsticks, eye shadows, blush and cosmetic brushes with hearts on them.  So whimsical and retro.  Makes me feel like I haven’t kissed a boy yet.

I loved reading the Archie comic books when I was around nine or ten.  Even at that age while I was coveting Veronica’s sleek hair style that shone blue and her daddy’s bank account, I knew I was a Betty – sweet, non-scheming, perky.  I hope I still possess some Betty traits.  I know I still covet Veronica’s sleek blue highlights.

Another covet item to come in February is Kate Spade’s polka dot Keds sneakers.

Not a clue as to how to wear them but that never stops me.  The pointy toes are another blast from my past.  My best friend’s mother wore pointy Keds in the sixties.  I think they were denim.  Last summer I bought a pair of Keds in red and white stripe seersucker.  Can you think of anything better?  Maybe the new Kate Spade’s.  Coming to Nordstrom and Kate Spade.

Gotta run to my Photoshop class.  Hoping to find an Archie to carry my laptop for me.

So, are you Betty or Veronica?  Do tell!

Confessions of a …

That’s been me this past week. I confess to falling in love with Kate Spade’s “Bow Valley” bag when we first locked eyes this past Sunday in Fashion Island in Newport. Nordstrom’s being my first stop, I obsessed the rest of the day over this soft, buttery leather bag with a shiny patent half bow. The one thing I was obsessing about was the cost. Ugh. This is when I became a stalker. I saw the black version was on… [Read More]

For The Love Of Espadrilles And Cocktails!

I’m still working on the wedding cookies and haven’t even begun the cookies for the trade show (I can’t wait to share some presentation ideas with you) but I thought you’d deserve a new post! Apparently blue curacao is the ‘color of the week’ and I’m drinking it in.I love the color almost as much as I love the intense-hued sweet, orange-flavored libation. Here’s the link to all the goodies featured in the photo. My eye was instantly drawn to… [Read More]

Nutty For Nautical

I’m desperately in need for some nautical retail therapy.I’ve sailed the seven seas of the internet for something new. It’s spring, so time to check in with Stubbs and Wootton for whimsy. They’ve dramatically changed their website design! Very nice. Love the nautical looks they’ve got going on this season. Pearl clusters. How did that get in there? They found my Achilles’ heel. Shoe joke. Imagine these Janna Conner bangles on your wrist just peeking out from the rolled up… [Read More]

“Someday My Prince Will Come”

Did you ever dream of being a Disney princess bride? Now you can be with the line of Disney princess bridal gowns. Which princess would you be?Preferences based primarily on dress design. The prince is a secondary consideration.Besides who remembers any princely potentials besides Aladdin? Ariel. They used to call this style ‘fish tail.’Now it’s ‘mermaid.’ Still something fishy about it to me.Personally, I think it makes every girl look like she’s packing a little more bait in the dorsal fin. But… [Read More]

Organizing Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs – Leola Not to outdo Santa but I wanted my own big bag this Christmas.Black.With zippers. I knew if I had put it on my list by the time Santa’s elves hit the mall it would have been gone. As it was Nordstrom put out an A.P.B. for me and found it at the mothership in Seattle ridiculously on sale. As a result I can guarantee the sales associate will be on Santa’s ‘good girls’ list. When I… [Read More]

Kate Middleton & Daniella Issa Helayel

Like most women my *ahem* age, you probably joined me at 3 AM pacific time to watch the royal wedding of Diana and Charles. I wanted to see that dress, the jewels, the flowers… everything! I have to say I’m just as enamored with William and Kate as I was with his parents. Already there has been much speculation on her wedding dress designer. One of Kate’s favorite designers is Brazilian-born Daniella Issa Helayel whose Issa line is based in… [Read More]

‘Fashion Fit For A Princess’

Channeling January Jones

Some people just do sunglasses well. January Jones is one of them. Whether as Betty… or herself… In Moscot VildaGQ In Oliver PeoplesShe always looks classic and timeless. I have a love affair with sunglasses and own way too many. I have always been drawn to the classic Wayfarer look but they were too masculine and big for me until…this season Ray-Ban made a smaller version. I found mine at Nordstrom. Black on black. Love them. They come in a variety… [Read More]

Appearances. Appearances. Appearances.

‘No Frumpy’: Cornell’s Pi Phi Forbids American Apparel Leggings, ‘Gross, Plastic Shizzz’ by Britt Aboutaleb This morning, I was forwarded six pages worth of dress code requirements for Pi Phi’s Cornell chapter. Because it’s Friday, and they’re outrageous, I’m sharing. What does one wear to rush? If we had a sorority our rule would be there are no rules – we’d welcome vintage flannel and Dior couture heels in equal measure, but Pi Phi’s rush chair’s a bit more… [Read More]
