Gift and Wrapping Ideas For A Baking Bridal Shower

Wow! This spring has taken off with bridal showers and the weddings to follow!

Thought I’d share a gift idea and presentation I came up for a bride who will be learning how to bake. I hope she’ll love baking as much as I do! If anything, it will give her a good start complete with a couple of recipes and my cell number should she have any questions.

Here’s the complete presentation and then below, I’ll break it down for you and resource the items:

See that big poofy tulle confectionery bow? Under it is 2 – 8″ cake pans stacked on top of each other. Much prettier than two aluminum grey pans, don’t you think? Tape the pans together so they don’t slide off each other.

I had this lovely pink paper with sequins from Paper Source.  Instant sequin sprinkles!

I cut a doily from a lace patterned paper I had in my collection, also from Paper Source.

The pedestal cake stand I found at Sur la Table.  I think it’s the perfect height to make any dessert feel special. 🙂

I have to show this photo again to refer to for resources because it’s the only one I took as I was running out the door to the shower!  By the way, the aunt of the groom hosted a lovely day at the Wilshire Country Club in LA where the weather was made to order.  Right on the border of Hancock Park with Larchmont Village close by. So worth the Hollywoodland traffic, narrow streets, no left-hand turn lanes or left-turn green arrows…! You can tell I don’t get up to LA very often but when I do I always go for a joy ride to look at the old established neighborhoods from the 20’s and the stately homes. LA. Who knew! Very Norma Desmond. 🙂

“Ooh La La” Give-Away!

I’m celebrating my third blogging anniversary with a little Parisian flair.  When I recently took a French macarons baking class at Sur la Table, I found the cutest little stand-up Eiffel Tower treat bags that are tied with double-faced hot pink satin ribbon!  I knew one thing – I must have them. Okay, I knew two things.  I had to share a set with you.  And because the Eiffel Tower is much more fun when shared with others

Valentine’s Cupcake Goodies Give-Away!

Recently, I took a cupcake class at Sur la Table in Newport Beach. One can always learn something new. For example, did you know there is a higher level of whipping cream other than heavy whipping cream? It’s called manufacturer’s cream. Restaurants use it. It’s 48% butter fat compared to heavy whipping cream’s 38%. When I saw the nice helper pour some into my coffee I didn’t stop her. I actually told her to keep on going! That one cup… [Read More]
